Blog Post #2: Kahoot! in the Classroom
Why Kahoot: Kahoot is an educational tool that is beneficial in the classroom. I chose Kahoot as one of my instructional medias from professor Wang's "Week 3 Day 1 T3PP Technologies" slideshow presentation.
What is Kahoot: Kahoot is an educational tool that can be utilized by instructors and students alike. It works for all grade levels. It can be used as an instructional tool to test classroom knowledge on material in an interactive way or to give students a brain break within the classroom. It makes assessing content knowledge fun!
Use & Complexity level: Kahoot is easy to navigate for students but can be semi difficult for educators to get started when creating a Kahoot from scratch. Luckily there are templates for educators to access, these are pre-made kahoots used to cover topics and material.
Versatility: Kahoot is very versatile! It caters to students and educators, allowing them to test knowledge in a light, fun, and interactive way. It helps ensure content is being retained while also building an uplifting classroom community. Kahoot can also be utilized as a review tool!
Classroom use of Kahoot: Kahoot is used to assess student understanding and gauge classroom comprehension. It also contains features that allow students to play fun games and test their knowledge in a range of topics, including non-academic topics. These features provide students with brain break periods that build classroom community.
Connection(s): Kahoot connects to both TLC 2 and TLC 3. It allows instructors to present content assessments in an informal low-stakes manner. While also providing instructors with the opportunity to clarify students misconceptions and let them ask questions.
