Blog Post #8: Padlet in the Classroom
Why Padlet: Padlet is an education online tool. It is for online class collaboration practices. I chose Padlet because it's a tool I've personally used in the classroom as a student. The times I have used the tool I've found it to be easy and effective when it comes to use and purpose.
What is Padlet: This is an is an educational tool that can be utilized by instructors and students alike. It works for all grade levels. It can be used as an instructional tool to test classroom knowledge on material in an interactive way or to give students a brain break within the classroom. It makes assessing content knowledge fun!
Use & Complexity level: This can be slightly difficult to navigate as it's a little different from other sites with the same purpose. Visually it can be confusing and seem overwhelming for students. However, it is a resourceful tool that allows students to share ideas and connect with peers.
Versatility: It helps ensure content is being retained while also building an uplifting classroom community. Padlet can be utilized as a review tool in the classroom. It presents a blank digital builtin board where teachers can post content examples and challenging questions for the class to work through. The site contains features such as texts, links, images, videos, documents, and other media to organize and present content. Activities are shared and open for interaction instantly.
Classroom use of Padlet: Padlet is used to assess student understanding and gauge classroom comprehension! It opens the floor for peer collaboration that facilitates an interactive meant to produce a healthy classroom environment. It's a flexible tool with a range of activities, allowing for discussions resource gathering, brainstorming, and much more.
Connection(s): This tool connects to all three TLC tiers such as planning, assessing, and instruction. It allows for the sharing of ideas through discussion posts, building of online community, and sharing lesson content. Teachers can publish content questions for students to complete or knowledge checks of material through posts.

Hi Kimberly! Thank you for your explanation of Padlet. I have had teachers use it in the past, but I honestly had no idea what I was doing! I agree, it can be hard to navigate, that was where I had an issue. Great connection to the course!

ReplyDeleteHi Kimberly, this a new technology to me but I like that it is an educational tool for both students and teachers. Also, I find it cool that you can do test on it and use it to allow students to have a brain break. Lastly, I like that you mentioned it can be tricky to navigate but it is a very useful and resourceful tool so to me it seems like it is worth figuring out.
